Pantai Hospitals’ first leadless pacemaker procedure was conducted by Dr Ernest Ng Wee Oon, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist on the 12th July 2018 at PHKL. The leadless pacemaker or Micra TPS pacemaker is an implant that does not require surgical incision in the chest or creation of a pocket under the skin in contrast to traditional pacemaker implant procedures. The life span of this leadless pacemaker is between 10-12 years. The pacemaker delivers electrical impulses that pace the heart through an electrode at the end of the device. It is used to treat abnormal heart rhythm.
